Swedish-Italian School
The vocal technique taught by Eva Lindqvist in her Vienna vocal studio is based on the “Swedish-Italian School”, that was developed by Alan Lindquest, a student of Manuel Garcia, Inge Börg-Iséne (a teacher of Kirsten Flagstad) and Joseph Hislop (the first teacher of Jussi Björling).
Teaching Philosophy
“Not solely one “method” should, but especially the access to every single individual, every unique singer personality, and with that interconnected unique color of the voice MUST stand behind the work with a singer. Each “singer soul” has it’s own history, distinct problems and …very special qualities, that characterizes it. By means of a prompt and very precise analysis of the voice and the voice technique at the beginning of our collaboration, I obtain a clear picture. Now I can develop a “vision” of the singer / their voice and performance in a condition “cleansed” of technical unevenness and obstructive concepts. Step by step, we work out the missing pieces of the puzzle and join them to the overall system. All this happens in a very sheltered environment and setting. This way the singer can develop the necessary security to survive successfully in the “shark pool” of the classical singing business.
The best vocal school can’t achieve anything if , aside the work on technique, the joy of “self-expression” and in the very individual vocal qualities aren’t placed in the foreground. It is my desire to create an atmosphere in my studio for the singer, that makes it easy to dedicate oneself to the development of the voice and the performing skills with best-possible freedom and joy.” Eva Lindqvist asked about her teaching motto.
